MY ARTWORK
WHO AM I AS AN ARTIST?
Over the past twenty-three years of my life I have proved to myself and the people around me that I am a strong willed and motivated individual with a big heart and lots of determination. As a child I was forced to overcome abuse, homelessness and the foster care system. I was often taken in and out of homes, nothing was ever stable. Somewhere along the way I discovered my love for drawing. Art became a place that allowed me to express myself, a place where it was safe to be me. It was my outlet… my strength. Art became my something and it changed my life, motivating me to become the successful college graduate, educator, and artist I am today.
Now that I have grown up my dream is to use my diverse experiences as inspiration to help children find their outlet. I feel it is important for me to use my voice and experiences to make the world a better place by showing people how powerful art can be. I believe it is such a great tool for expressionism and is incredibly valuable for people of all ages who need a healthy way to communicate their thoughts and emotions. I also feel that my experience in foster care has taught me how important it is for children to have a stable role model that full heartedly believes in them and wants them to succeed.
